Mum on the Run
"I wanted to style an outfit that was slightly elevated from a regular day look, an alternative to jeans or active wear, yet still super comfy and cosy. This mustard knit is a great way to add some seasonal colour to your wardrobe and depending on its undertone, can compliment any skin tone! Teamed with a pleated skirt and a denim jacket, this is the perfect way to add some style to your day, top it off with a pair of trainers to keep the comfort! If a busy schedule makes it impossible to rush home for a change before evening plans, keep a tailored coat and a pair of boots on hand to transform this ensemble into an appropriate look for a cool night."
"For the working mum in a professional environment, who still wants to be fashion forward, layer some rich colours under a simple black blazer! Paired back with a smart loafer, this is a look to inspire an expression of personal style and flare whilst maintaining a neat silhouette. Keep it effortless by sticking to similar shades of colour with your separate pieces, in this case I played within the romantic shades of pink and burgundy. The teal green tote bag is both practical and a great pop of secondary colour, and the printed scarf ties in the palette perfectly through it's coordinated colour way!"
Mummy Needs a Cocktail
"I've called this look 'Mummy needs a cocktail' as I believe all mothers deserve to let their hair down, glam up and have some fun! A chic and sexy way to stay comfortable is opting for a jumpsuit, this one is perfect as it has a complimenting V-neck, a cinched waist and pockets. Black is always a practical choice and a friendly way to disguise any troubled areas. I added some texture with a fabulous faux fur jacket, and kept the look contemporary by accessorising with a western style belt on the waist. Highlight a pop of colour on the lip by matching it with your clutch, play with some jewellery to personalise the look and don't forget to own it!"
To enter the competition simply tell us what is best beauty or fashion tip that your Mum passed on to you.
We asked Daniel.P Stylist and he said, "My beautiful mummy (yes I still call her that) always ensured I was dressed well and respectfully presented, even from when I was quite young - although I hated wearing suspenders, haha! One tip she passed on would be to always take pride in the way you look, not in a superficial way, but to show yourself dignity through the way you dress. It's as simple as 'if you look good you feel good', and when you project that positive energy others will take notice too."
