Northland Supports Local Job Seekers23 Sep 2016
Northland Shopping Centre held its first Jobs Fair on the 1st of September 2016. The event gave local job seekers the opportunity to attend a night in which they would be able to speak with the right person and apply for positions on the spot.
We had 8 retailers participate on the night including Pancake Parlour, Hoyts, Toys R Us, Burger Edge, $2 Superstore, Lux Hair, Melbourne Polytechnic & Casa Bella. We also had 3 friends of Northland including mantra Bell City, The Leukaemia Foundation & Realise People Solutions (Customer Service Desk).
With such overwhelming support from Darebin Council, La Trobe, RMIT and many local high schools we saw an attendance of over 500+ job seekers.
We also had support from the Northland Youth Centre that assisted with developing resumes in the lead up to the night.
Retailers & friends of Northland that attended the night, all said it was a great way to meet local job seekers and fill positions in the lead up to Christmas.
While attendee’s on the night found the Jobs Fair to be a great way to ask questions about positions and to know that the right person has received their resume.
With such a strong response to the Northland Jobs Fair from the community, Northland will be holding another Jobs Fair next year and will also focus on delivering more programs that assist local youth unemployment.
